The headline is misleading, it may not really make you wealthy rich, however will certainly help save you some cash :)
In the last post I touched in short on the top golden rule of traveling - Travel light. I additionally asked you to have a look at money belt bearing in mind the first golden rule. Hope you did that & refined your shopping list.
The 1st overseas holiday I ever went on with my family was when I was Fourteen. The vacation destination was India and this was way back in the late 1980's. My father was an army colonel & mom had a small chain of book shops. While dad and mom started off preparing for the actual trip almost 6 months beforehand, we read about the places we would visit every day. The second golden rule for holiday travel is you got it - Plan in Advance!
Dad organized everything with mum with his military precision, checklists were made, responsibilities were allocated to me and my sister (who was older by 3 years) 6 months before we're to travel. We had Three checklists
Common checklist - Where all the stuff that everyone would require and utilize was listed (tooth paste, nail clipper and so on)
Emergency Checklist - In which doctor prescribed drugs, emergency numbers etc were detailed
Individual List - In which our own individual items that we would like to carry were detailed (man! this list was enormous!!!)
And then there were the duties checklist. Dad would book tickets, visa, authorization for him to travel (he was serving then), Mom would take care of the doctor prescribed medicines, visits to the doctor, clothing, I & my sister were asked to learn about places we wanted to visit. All Emily desired to do was find out snake charmers & princes (: )!!), me I desired to see the Mt Everest and ride elephants. We had been so far removed from reality (well somewhat far!)
The point I am attempting to make here is, for anyone who is traveling internationally for a family holiday, plan as early as possible. Write every little thing down in 2-3 lists and then begin taking off things that are not required. I am sure you do not need to bring Five different types of moisturizing lotion. You'll need a sunscreen and a moisturiser.
We were assigned only two bags; I had a duffel and a little backpack. Preparing this early on, resulted us in finishing all of our holiday needs & bags shopping at the time of sales. By doing this I guess we managed to save nearly 50% of the cost we'd have paid had we waited until the last second. Congratulations, you realise why I sent you to money belts
This web site is about travel requirements and is my current favorite. In a month I have saved close to $700 on bags and other vacation need products.
Getting back lets summarize the two travel rules we have learned so far
Plan in Advance
& save money where ever you can! Till the next one, dream of your forthcoming holiday getaway!
